In-network hospital care options are changing in Walla Walla County

Starting July 24, 2017, the in-network hospital care options in Walla Walla County are changing for Premera Blue Cross customers because of the closure of Adventist Health Services. This closure includes:

  • Walla Walla General Hospital
  • Adventist Health Medical Group

  • Adventist Health Surgical Specialists

  • Adventist Health Home Care Services

Premera is mailing letters July 14 to customers, including your employees, to let them know that we will cover the care customers receive at Providence St. Mary Medical Center at an in-network benefit level through the end of their current plan year.

Information in the customer letter is shown below.

What this letter is all about: Premera Blue Cross will ensure you have access to hospital care by covering care you receive at Providence St. Mary Medical Center at an in-network benefit level through the end of your current plan year.

This includes coverage for any care from Providence providers at other Providence healthcare facilities in Walla Walla County. Your actual out-of-pocket costs will vary depending on your health plan’s coinsurance and deductible.

What you need to know: You also have access to in-network hospital care at Kennewick General Hospital, Kennewick General Hospital Physicians Clinics, Walla Walla Clinic, and TriCity Orthopedic.

Next steps: You have two care options:

  1. Find other healthcare providers within your plan’s network by signing in at premera.com and using the Find a Doctor tool.
  2. Establish care with a Providence healthcare provider in Walla Walla County. While Providence providers and facilities in Walla Walla County will show as out-of-network in the Find a Doctor tool, Premera will cover this care at an in-network benefit level through the end of your current plan year.

Customers with questions are encouraged to call the customer service phone number on the back of their Premera ID card. If you have questions, please contact your producer or Premera account manager.

Sincerely,

Bill Akers
