In-network hospital care options are changing in Walla Walla County


Starting July 24, 2017, the in-network hospital care options in Walla Walla County are changing for Premera Blue Cross customers because of the closure of Adventist Health Services. This closure includes:

  • Walla Walla General Hospital

  • Adventist Health Medical Group

  • Adventist Health Surgical Specialists

  • Adventist Health Home Care Services

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler issued the following statement urging Congress and the Trump Administration to support financial help for Washington residents buying health insurance policies through the Affordable Care Act:

A cornerstone of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the financial help it provides people who have long struggled to afford health insurance. President Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress now put at risk another form of financial help for those who need it most.

Commissioner Kreidler and the Association of Washington Healthcare Plans sent a letter to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price on April 8 with recommendations for retaining companies in the insurance market and increasing market stability in the future.




House Republicans Pull ACA Repeal and Replace Legislation
before Vote

Late last Friday, Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives withdrew the American Health Care Act (AHCA) from consideration. Pulling the AHCA prior to a vote either effectively ends or indefinitely delays Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA remains the law, but with a questionable future in terms of enforcement.


Leaked: Draft House Reconciliation Bill


Late Friday a draft House reconciliation bill was leaked to the media. It is unclear when exactly the bill was drafted and by whom, and whether it impacts what we have recently been hearing in the media. i.e., that repeal and replacement will take a long time, if it happens at all. That said, the draft bill is the most comprehensive Republican plan seen to date on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act.
